Coffee at Santa Monica

There are three types of coffee available at Santa Monica:

  • A Breville Barista Plus – espresso machine
  • A Krups Nespresso
  • Cafetiéres

Stove tops or percalators aren’t generally compatible with induction hobs (some brands are adapting) but here’s how to get that coffee to your liking.

Firstly check the water jugs at the back of the machine has enough water and can remove Nespresso water jug to fill at drinking tap.

Breville Espresso

The grain grinds course, so suitable for a milder coffee, such as an Americo. The machine has a milk throther. Alternatively, milk can be put in the microwave for 1 minute.

Using Marcilla or similar brand of ground coffee, use a teaspoon to put it straight into the coffee arm and press down with the black instrument on top right of the machine.

Check the water level in the water section at the back. I recommend filling a jug and pouring water in from the drinking water tap.

Once the arm is put in place, your coffee is ready to be made. The two cups button to the right end of the front buttons makes a larger espresso.

Krups Nespresso

There are various brands of pods available in most supermarkets. Lavassa and L’or for example.

L’or or Lavassa make pods for the Nespresso machine. Or Nespresso have many different flavours
