Welcome to Santa Monica

Come and Stay at Santa Monica

House from poolside

Santa Monica is one of the oldest farmhouses on the island of Menorca and has been a family holiday home since 1980. A short walk from the house along an ancient path leading thorough wild fennel takes you to an ancient building called a talaiot (talayot), which dates to the late 2nd millennium and early first millennium BC.

santamon-postcard72dpiSanta Monica sits on its own natural water spring from an ancient well (pictured), which once featured on a postcard, with water carefully filtered on site and pumped to the showers and taps. Ancient vines and plants adorn the walls and flower beds, which bloom with colour in the summer time. Original fir and almond trees still stand alongside newly planted and up-lit olive trees.

Inside Santa Monica

Living room area

Since 2014, the house has been updated into a beautiful and peaceful space for relaxing on holiday, with uniquely upholstered, soft and spacious sofas and original features integrated into carefully resurfaced floors, walls and ceilings with soft pinks, blues and whites.

Kitchen

The kitchen is now high-spec with an inbuilt induction hob, oven and grill, a state of the art microwave, American fridge freezer with ice and water on tap. There is an expresso coffee machine, which makes coffee from freshly ground beans at the touch of a button, a dishwasher and a large beer dispenser.

All six bedrooms have en-suite shower rooms, each with twin sinks and two of these have baths. There is also an outdoor shower for hosing down after a day on the beach.

Pool from BBQ area

The pool side has over 10 elegant adjustable sunbeds with comfortable cushions, which can be shaded by one of four large parasols. There is a barbeque area with two large tables for enjoying meals together shaded in the daytime by a pergola designed traditionally in the style of the beach cafe Es Bruc, or by night with the pool lit up and lights illuminating the flowers outlining the area and candles are also available. An outdoor fridge keeps drinks chilled by the pool.

The front of the house has a large west facing terrace, where the sun can be watched setting in a palette of ravishing colours while sipping a cool Pomada (Menorca’s own Xoriguer sloe gin, lemon Fanta, ice and a slice of lemon) before dinner or exploring the island’s nightlife, where Balearic tunes could be heard before Ibiza got going.
